The backbone networks have steadily moved towards an ‘all-IP’ core, handling fast-packet processing of voice, video and data, on fixed and mobile networks. Meanwhile edge and access networks are becoming more intelligent, handling convergence as well as security, and playing a critical role in this complex transition. Broadband access networks - especially those in the last-mile - need to incorporate multiple interfaces like copper, fibre, DSL, cable, 3GPP, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, GEPON, and GPON. Further, edge devices such as DSLAMs, CMTS or base stations aggregate user traffic onto the IP/MPLS backbone. MindTree recognizes that delivering triple-play services to a large user base in this milieu poses significant Quality of Service (QoS) and scalability challenges.
MindTree understands the technologies involved in this transformation, and believes that the key to future success lies in taking advantage of the convergence of mobile wireless technologies, Wi-Fi meshes, WiMAX, 3GPP, IMS, and more. Usage of standard modular platforms (like those based on ATCA standards) can also improve time-to-market for both vendors and service providers.
MindTree brings a strong understanding of complex broadband/access networks, including diverse interfaces, protocols, aggregation capacities, network management and forward/backward compatibilities. Our expertise with developing ‘packet network’ devices also allows us to take complete engineering ownership of broadband edge devices.
