With an art collection featuring more than 150,000 objects spanning paintings and sculptures, to drawings and architectural models, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is no stranger to hosting a wide variety of masterpieces. Yet one of its most recent masterpieces results not from the stroke of a brush or the heat of a kiln, but instead from a partnership with MindTree Ltd, in the development and deployment of key components of the museum’s eCommerce site, www.momastore.org.
For the past several years, MoMA faced the challenge of keeping pace with its eCommerce demands, with the need for additional resources to scale with the site’s extraordinary customer growth.
In addition to the capacity and reliability challenges faced by the previous eCommerce infrastructure, the MoMA online store lacked key elements such as multi-channel integration, inventory management and gift registry functionality that enable customers to shop in real-time and enhance their user experience.
Dating back to 2000, MindTree had worked with MoMA on tactical IT initiatives ranging from iSeries, RPG, and LANSA support. Due to the successful execution of these projects and established trust, MoMA decided to engage MindTree as strategic partner in the development of the new MoMAstore.org order management, gift registry and e-commerce components.
