MindTree joins Symbian Platinum Partner Program to provide product realization services on Symbian OS-based smartphones

MindTree Consulting, a product realization services company, announced today that it has become a Symbian Platinum Partner to support the emerging market for Symbian OS-based advanced mobile phones. As a Platinum Partner, MindTree is extending its Bluetooth™ and Wireless Application design solutions to the Symbian ecosystem. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS™, the global industry standard operating system for advanced mobile phones, to the world’s leading handset manufacturers, which account for over 80 per cent of worldwide mobile phone sales.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to the wireless handheld market and our intent to build upon our wireless technology strategy,” said Mr Vinod Deshmukh, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, MindTree.  "We have become a key player in Bluetooth technology by licensing our Bluetooth software IPs to various applications and addressing market need. By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, MindTree ensures the close integration of our solutions with Symbian OS through reusable technology building blocks in Bluetooth™ and wireless applications. We are excited to be part of a fast-moving industry that is generating increasing support for Symbian OS and driving demand for advanced mobile phone features that will dramatically improve the usability of wireless devices."

MindTree has licensed its Bluetooth™ intellectual properties to several leading brand names in USA, Europe and Japan. These IPs have been incorporated in mobile phones, computer mice, keyboards and headsets (hands-free).  MindTree’s Baseband Controller is proven in silicon and has been successfully integrated on System-on-a-Chip for hand held devices.  MindTree also offers its world-class, design-engineering services to build prototypes for Bluetooth™ enabled devices, leveraging its global delivery model and technology expertise to help clients bring their products to market faster.

“Bluetooth technology solutions have become a fundamental requirement for today’s mobile devices,” said Martin Coul, Technology Partner Program Director, Symbian.  “We are pleased to have MindTree Consulting join the Symbian Platinum Partner Program to build Bluetooth and short range wireless technology solutions on Symbian OS-based smartphones.”

The Symbian Platinum Program includes companies that have a technology or strategic position that is key to the success of the mobile computing technology surrounding Symbian OS.
