MindTree Consulting, a leading international IT services company with a focus on the Healthcare revenue cycle, further strengthened its portfolio of offerings in this sector with advanced training in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The training was conducted by EDI Partners, a leading provider of HIPAA and EDI instruction to major U.S. healthcare organizations. Gary Beatty, chairman of the ANSI X12 Subcommittee on Insurance and president of EC Integrity, co-instructed the class along with Dan Petrosky, president and co-founder of EDI Partners.
Many Indian firms have attempted to gain expertise in the HIPAA/EDI arena mainly by wading through the extensive implementation guides. “Although this approach can be partly successful, we feel that formal training from EDI Partners provides a level of insight that is simply not available through other means. This is a top-notch service provided by the best teachers in the industry, and it is a unique advantage for MindTree” says Erik Mann, head of MindTree’s healthcare practice.
According to Mr. Beatty, “We see the need for IT firms focusing on healthcare to be adept in EDI. We were excited to experience the high level of interest from MindTree employees.”
“This is the first time we have conducted this class for an IT consulting company with such a strong presence in India. I think it is a step in the right direction,” added Mr. Petrosky.
As the healthcare environment slowly moves a larger and larger percentage of revenue cycle interactions to electronic format, knowledge of fundamental IT concepts such as EDI is becoming ever more critical. “95% of Fortune 1000 companies conduct their routine business over traditional EDI, and healthcare is finally catching up. This is the reason why we decided to methodically prepare ourselves,” says N. Krishna Kumar, president and CEO of MindTree’s Enterprise Business.
