MindTree’s EtherMind Bluetooth Protocol Stack and Profiles are now BQB Qualified

MindTree Consulting, an international IT consulting and services company with a strong focus on product realization competencies, has announced that its EtherMind Bluetooth Protocol Stack 3.0 and several other Bluetooth profiles have been Bluetooth 1.1-certified by Cetecom. Cetecom is a recognized Bluetooth qualification test facility of Bluetooth SIG, Inc. In addition to the core Bluetooth protocol-stack layer, the following Bluetooth profiles created by MindTree have also qualified:
  • Generic OBEX, File Transfer, Object Push
  • Serial Port Profile, headset, LAN Access Profile
  • Human Interface Device (device and host)
  • Hands-free (device and gateway)
  • Hard Copy Replacement Profile (printer and print client)

MindTree’s EtherMind stack first passed the Bluetooth qualification board (BQB) qualification in May 2001. The protocol stack received the qualification once again in 2003 after MindTree enhanced the product. The improvements were based on the inputs MindTree received during participation in various UnplugFests, the testing events organized by Bluetooth SIG. The stack was qualified on a single-processor (a stack embedded on baseband controller chip) and embedded platforms. The stack and profiles are highly optimized for embedded platforms and individual-application requirements. The qualification process was completed in a short period of time, which was possible due to the stringent quality processes and documentation practices that are followed in MindTree. With these qualifications, product manufacturers can now have increased confidence in the reliability of MindTree’s Bluetooth stack and profiles. Incorporating pre-qualified stack and profiles help clients reduce the cycle-time and cost.

MindTree has sold more than 12 licenses of its products in the last two years, and its software is shipped as a standard embedded option with at least one major silicon vendor.  Some of MindTree’s software products are also incorporated into cell phones, computer mouses, keyboards and headsets (hands-free) of some of the leading brand names from Japan, Europe and Korea.  MindTree has an end-to-end approach to Bluetooth, offering BQB-qualified components ranging from profiles and protocol stacks to baseband-controller blocks.

Apart from licensing re-usable blocks, MindTree offers its world-class, design-engineering services to build prototypes for Bluetooth-enabled devices, leveraging its global delivery model and technology expertise to help clients bring their products to market faster.
