Information serves as lifeline of modern businesses. The rate at which information grows is mindboggling. Information needs to be managed and it deserves a life-cycle approach for effective management. Such an approach should address how information is created, received, stored, shared, etc., including disposal. The approach should also take into business requirements, data protection requirements, customer requirements, etc., at each of the life-cycle stages. Therefore, information management requires as “architectural” approach.
