System Integrators upbeat about RIM’s Indian prospects

Outsourcing is not a new concept for us in the country. However, outsourcing IT for our homebound business is something that Indian enterprises are still coming to terms with. As aptly put by Karthikeyan Subbiah, Vice President & Chief Software Architect – IMTS, MindTree, “The concept of RIM is more easily understood in the foreign industry as they have already adopted the outsourcing of IT services and BPO. Hence, the acceptance of RIM services is a logical extension of the IT outsourcing being done. The domestic industry is waking up to the benefits of outsourcing but it still prefers the onsite model, especially when it comes to desktop management. Servers and applications are more easily being given away for remote monitoring and management. Hence, the current proportion of domestic revenues accruing from RIM is typically less than 10% of foreign revenues.”
