EtherMind IEEE 11073 Stack

EtherMind IEEE 11073 Stack

MindTree’s EtherMind IEEE 11073 stack is an optimized, abstracted & layered solution which is Continua Health Alliance certified (Certification ID’s 38 & 39) supporting multiple platforms to suit the needs of the OEM’s in Medical, Health & Fitness industry segments as well as PC and mobile phone manufacturers.

This stack comprises of IEEE-11073-20601 (Optimized Exchange Protocol), Comprehensive suite of IEEE-11073 manager and agent roles for a host of device specializations (IEEE-11073-104xx) as adopted by the Continua v1.5 specifications.

EtherMind IEEE 11073 Stack

The EtherMind IEEE 11073 stack is built on clean abstraction layers for OS and transport. The transport abstraction layer enables the use of the stack on either Bluetooth HDP transport or the USB PHDC transport. The OS abstraction layers enable easy porting onto both high level OS like Linux as well as low level RTOSes.

EtherMind IEEE 11073 Manager is an implementation of manager roles for various device specializations like blood glucose meter, pulse oximeter etc. Targeted at devices like mobile phones, PCs and tablets, the IEEE 11073 manger provides interfaces to plug in GUI or any other MMI which is specific to the OEMs.

EtherMind IEEE 11073 Agent is an offering which supports the host of device specializations as per the Continua v1.5 specifications like Blood Pressure Monitor, Weighing Scale, Cardiovascular Fitness and Activity Monitor, Thermometer, Glucose meter, Pulse Oximeter, Strength Fitness Equipment, Independent Living Activity, Peak Flow and Adherence Monitor.  The agent implementations are specially designed to fit into resource constrained systems like 8 bit micros with minimal RAM, FLASH and MIPS.

MindTree’s Continua Health Alliance certified EtherMind IEEE-11073 stack can be used, in both the small sensor devices and relatively larger collector/monitoring equipment hosts such as laptops, smartphones, tablets and PCs, interacting with each other using wired or wireless PAN or LAN.

MindTree Leadership

MindTree has provided valuable inputs to both the IEEE 11073 standards group and Continua Health Alliance during the development, verification and qualification process of its IEEE-11073 stack. MindTree’s implementation will also be used as a reference system, by multiple Continua Health Alliance certification houses to ensure interoperability of the new systems under certification. A globally recognized medical device OEM in the diabetes care domain has successfully integrated MindTree’s EtherMind IEEE-11073 stack into its products slated for market release in 2012.

In addition to the stack, MindTree can offer consulting in order to assist manufacturers with qualification in various forums based on our expertise and experience both with Bluetooth SIG and Continua Health Alliance certification. We also have the experience to realize new specifications – helping manufacturers to realize new use cases. MindTree’s lead engineers are on the Bluetooth Architecture Review Board (as Councilor) and on the Medical Working Group (Co-chair).
