"You won't need kidneys in heaven, someone could use them here, on Earth." This was a teaser campaign on the Mindtree's website that started in mid-August. Soon, it motivated 550 employees to sign up for organ donation. About 650 employees also volunteered to become stem-cell donors.
In a country with abysmal record of organ donors, these numbers from Mindtree raise hope. Nationally a mere 0.08 persons per million population constitute organ donors - an incredibly small and insignificant number compared to the statistics around the world.
"We did it to celebrate Mindtree's 15th birthday on August 18," said chairman Subroto Bagchi
Mindtree crowdsourced ten good ideas from employees in the initiative called Choose Your Good.
